THE MICROCOMPUTER TECHNICIAN IS A PROFESSIONAL WHO ASSISTS THE VARIOUS DEPARTMENTS OF THE MEDICAL CENTER IN MEETING THE NEEDS OF END-USERS AND PERFORMS SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS IN THE INSTALLATION, MAINTENANCE AND SUPPORT OF HARDWARE ON THE NETWORK.

Responsibilities

  • * Complies with polices and procedures, with accreditation agency requirements, federal, state, or local law and regulations.
  • Remain competent with all hardware supported including PC installation, configuration, problem solving, and network connectivity issues.
  • Provide prompt and professional, customer focused, end user support via the Help Desk.
  • Coordinate equipment installation with users.  Provide appropriate followup with users.
  • Maintain and protect all user files and access privileges to ensure proper security and data integrity.
  • Ensure appropriate disposition of old hardware no longer used at DRMC.
  • Obtain general knowledge of the medical centers computer center and mission critical applications to maximize system uptime.
  • Communicate effectively with Managers, co-workers, and users.
  • Document support procedures and resolutions in MIS knowledge base for interdepartmental use.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Associate of Science degree in Computer Science/Information Systems or a closely related field
  • Work experience in Information Technology for at least six months is desirable.
  • Must possess strong customer service skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of microcomputers and printers required 
  • Valid PA Drivers License.  
  • A+ and Network+ Certifications to validate knowledge and competency within 6 months of hire required.
